The mandate of the first "leadership" of the Parliament lasted for a year. During this time, some very important actions were carried out, and contacts were established with almost all the student organizations in Serbia and also with several European student organizations. Since then, the Student Parliament of the State University of Novi Pazar has been continuously developing. It is now organized so that each study program is directly connected with the Student Parliament and in that way there is the possibility to effectively influence the quality of the teaching at the whole University. The number of students in the Student Parliament has increased from 15 to 21. The proceedings of the Student Parliament are defined in Article 56 of the Law on Higher Education. Student participation in the structure and management of SUNP The function of the Student Parliament is to represent all the university students and carry out the will of all the students. The Student Parliament has a task to foster the rights and protect the interests of all the students of the University. The Student Parliament fulfils this task by selecting student representatives to the administrative bodies of the University. Students participate in the work of: the University Council with its two representatives, the Senate of the University with three representatives, and in all the bodies of the University formed in accordance with the Law on Higher Education and the University Statute, all which is in compliance statutory provisions on students' participation of at least 20% in the University management The Student Parliament as the highest form of student representation has in its jurisdiction the choice of student representatives to university organs and in all the bodies which make important decisions for students. The University Student Parliament also elects up to 20% members of all bodies that carry out the reform of the teaching process and 1/6 of the University Council members and the student Vice-Rector. Student Vice-Rector At the initiative of the Student Parliament, the University initiated the procedure for the election of the first student Vice-Rector of the SUNP in 2008. The specific task and the responsibility of the student Vice-Rector is to follow the quality and control of teaching and the teaching process, and to personally participate in the reform and improvement of the teaching process. The Student Vice-Rector is a member of the Board of Rectors. The Student Vice-Rector of the SUNP is in constant touch with students and represents the closest tie between the students and teaching staff and the University administration. Student Parliament involvement in the work of the Center for Quality Assurance of SUNP The Student Parliament is represented in three Committees t within the Center for Quality Assurance of SUNP as follows:
To realize its tasks, it is necessary for the Student Parliament to become actively involved in the work of these bodies, not only through its representatives, but also considering issues relevant to students at its meetings, interceding for solutions to concrete problems and supporting student initiatives. The Student Parliament has been actively engaged in numerous activities related to improving the quality of teaching at the university, and above all, related to cooperation in the implementation of the evaluation process. After the Center prepares all the necessary documentation, representatives of the Student Parliament carry out the evaluation of the work of professor and staff, study programs, teaching and working conditions. |
