The Department is engaged in teaching in the fields of biology, rehabilitation, sports and physical education and scientific research in those fields. Students acquire knowledge and skills in the field of basic and applicative science, applicable in education, scientific institutions, and sports, recreational and therapeutic private or public institutions.

Teaching is based on modern and flexible curricula, so that theoretical and practical knowledge in the selected areas is acquired. Work in small groups at the department provides for the faster and better progress of each student.

At the Department of Biomedical Sciences teaching is on the level of Bachelor Studies (BS), Master's Academic Studies (MAS) and Doctoral Studies (PhD).
